Ruth Bader Ginsburg Has Died. President Trump Needs Just 51 Votes To Confirm A Nomination For America’s Top Court…And Only His Own Party Can Stand In His Way
The senate is currently composed of 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats, and two “Independents.” In order to push through a Supreme Court appointment, President Trump will need at least 50 Republicans to vote in the affirmative and Vice President Mike Pence to cast the tie-breaking vote.
There are currently four Republicans on record saying that they do not want to vote for any appointments until after the upcoming election. These are their names, contact information for their offices, and their statements. Nationalist Review urges you to call their offices! Let them know that they will not have your vote if they block the confirmation. We’ve included one honorable mention who is a constant fence-sitter.
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised that the President will get the confirmation hearings, its now up to the American people to put pressure where it needs to be to see that we get the votes in time.

1. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska)
“I would not vote to confirm a Supreme Court nominee. We are 50 some days away from an election,” she said. Murkowski said her reasoning is based on the same reasoning that held up the confirmation of former President Barack Obama’s final nominee to the Supreme Court.

2. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine)
News: @SenatorCollins told me earlier this month in Maine that she would not seat a Supreme Court justice in October.

“I think that’s too close, I really do,” she said.
She said she’d also oppose seating a justice in the lame duck if there’s a change in presidents.

3. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa)
“If Republican President Donald Trump nominates a replacement, U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley said in a call with Iowa reporters in July that he would not recommend holding a hearing on that candidate.” (Source)
Interestingly, the junior senator from Iowa, Joni Ernst, said that even if President Trump loses his reelection bid, the Senate should still attempt to push through his nomination between the months of November and January. She is currently facing a reelection battle. Below are the numbers for Grassley’s offices.

5. [Dis]honorable Mention: Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah)
Mitt Romney has not taken a position on the matter, but he’s often been at odds with the president’s agenda. Today, his communications director stated that news of Romney claiming he would oppose a vote is false, but she did not speak further on that matter. We urge you to call his office and pressure the senator to vote for the good of our future.
This is grossly false. #fakenews https://t.co/HZuqAyYToz
